Three Simple Questions To Set You Apart

When getting ready for an interview don’t forget you are interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you. You are there to ask questions as well. When they flip the interview to you and “ask do you have any questions” you have to be prepared. Don’t ask questions to just ask questions and never say no. You want to ask smart, engaging questions. You want to make sure the interviewer doesn’t have any doubts about you and that you show your interest in the company/position as well as find out if this could be a good fit for you.

Below are three questions that can help you navigate the water.

1)   What do YOU enjoy most about working here?

This gives you a chance to get an insider view of the company. It allows the interviewer to connect with you and share their experiences. If the interviewer is having a hard time coming up with a response I would be wary about moving forward.

2)   What are the challenges that come along with this position?

By asking this question you are showing that you are up for challenges and also assessing if this is something you are up for. Maybe the challenge is resources and the reason that you are looking for a new job is because your current company has no resources and its driving you crazy. Its always good to have a solid idea of what you are up against. If they say there are no challenges I would proceed with caution.

3)   Do you have any hesitations about my qualifications for this position?

Yes, this is a scary question to ask since it puts you in a vulnerable position BUT it shows your confident and also allows you to discuss with your potential employer any concerns they might have.
