Director, Product Marketing Manager, Consumer & Very Small Business
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Director, Product Marketing Manager to help us expand our product presence with consumers and very small businesses (under 5 seats). For this highly visible and influential position, we want a superstar to become a product expert to define the direction and positioning of our consumer cyber security and data protection products. Most of our consumer/prosumer business is driven through our owned ecommerce experience and brick-n-mortar retail channel, through warranty and subscription programs.
In this role, you will conduct market and competitive analysis, champion end user viewpoints and drive go-to-market strategy in collaboration with your marketing peers. Your technology background and ability to clearly articulate value and differentiation are highly desired in this role.
As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team. You must possess a solid understanding of consumer/prosumer adoption models via multiple channels including online app stores and physical retail such as Best Buy and Walmart. In addition, you have demonstrable experience developing and executing successful product growth strategies. You’ll bring your ability to analyze and recommend high potential opportunities, conduct primary and secondary market research, and define the messaging for our portfolio and individual services.
Market & Competitive Intelligence:
- Identify and size Market segment opportunities by reviewing analyst reports (Gartner MQ, Forrester Wave) year over year and understanding relative market size, channel coverage, and product penetration
- Document in detail our products and our competitive products positioning, key selling points, feature comparison, packaging, pricing, and shopper experience
- Maintains constant awareness of changes in competitor pricing and positioning for existing and future product offerings
Product Roadmap Input:
- Educate Product team of customer care complaints, dashboard metrics, channel feedback and customer satisfaction/NPS to measure performance and utilization of existing and new functionality & features
- Meet with internal partners (Sales, Consumer, Customer Care, etc.) to understand and prioritize their needs to inform the product road mapping process
- Map internal/external feedback and competitive intelligence to highlight what is: (1) table stake gaps, (2) functionality/feature fixes, (3) opportunities to differentiate, (4) white-space innovation areas as part of business requirements
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to identify product needs as appropriate
Product Messaging:
- Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates and counter-positions each product/solution
- Create communication and marketing plan for the launch of new products, features, and releases
- Develop and author data sheets, whitepapers, case studies in collaboration with editorial team; partner to develop product demos, training videos, etc.
- Collaborate cross functionally to develop marketing plans to drive demand for our products across all GTM channels
- Support requirements gathering and provide recommendations on new pricing and business models
Go-to-Market:
- Develop the strategy and supporting materials to sell and solidify value proposition to the end user
- Articulate the value proposition of the products to end user and help inform sales tools (presentations, battle cards, etc.) that support the selling process of each product line
- Partner with the Sales team to maintain a coordinated go-to-market strategy

- High degree of comfort with complex technical environments
- Having and being able to articulate/defend an informed opinion on important topics
What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical discipline; MBA strongly preferred
- 7+ years of strong Consumer software product marketing experience with progressively increasing responsibilities
- Prior experience in a SAAS or subscription business model business
- Must have excellent writing skills and a strong ability to translate technical advantages into customer benefits that resonate with consumers
- Must be able to work both at a strategic and tactical level to get the job done
- Excellent organizational, presentation and writing skills and ability to successfully interact across functions at all levels of an organization and with customers
